Christmas is almost here!

Today I have been working filling orders and getting new inventory done. I sure wish that Santa would send some of his elves to help because I could use them for sure! I decided to take a little break and write a long overdue blog post.
So far this Christmas has been a little different. We are home, which is good and bad. It means Britt is inbetween jobs, but that just part of what he does. It is nice to be home though and be with family for the whole season instead of just a few days.
A few weeks ago, Jacque (my sister) and I decided that we needed to put up a real Christmas tree instead of a fake one this year. So we loaded up with Britt and Mom and set out to find a little more traditional tree lot. We drove past plenty of your run of the mill parking lot stands, but we had something a little more nostalgic in mind. So, we did what anyone would do, we all pulled out our phones and searched Google for Christmas tree farms. We found one in Ozark, which is just a stone's throw down the highway. We headed off down the road and didn't know quite what lay in store.

When we pulled up we were so excited that we had decided to pass up all the parking lots for what we were about to venture in to. I forgot to mention that it had snowed the night before. It was just a light dusting, but it was just enough to add that extra something to our Christmas tree hunt.

We got the tree up and decorated

This place really was a good kickoff to the Christmas season! I do believe that it is going to be a part of our Christmases for years to come, as long as they are still there!

There is nothing better than a fresh cut Christmas tree. Candles are great but the real thing is always better!

Now that Christmas is just around the corner and the house is decorated, I need to get back to work!

 Merry Christmas to Everyone!

Butter...the new dog food

Well, I have been checking up on all my social network sites to see how this is going. It is really exciting to see "likes" from people who I do not know and live all over the US. I take this as a good sign! In other news....today I came home from the grocery store and as I was walking up to the door, one of the neighbors was walking by. I stopped to talk and set the bags right inside the door, keeping the meat outside with me so that Bullet (my puppy) wouldn't get into it before I got back inside. I finished visiting and came back inside, checking to make sure my groceries were intact. At first glace, it looked like all was well. Once I got further inside, I saw my package of butter...on the floor... opened....and partially eaten. Of all the things that he could have drug out ( and I could tell that he had rooted around in the bags because everything was laid over and hanging out) he picked the butter and ate it....he knew he was in trouble but it was so funny! lol

Garage Sale-ing in Lawrence

Today Britt and I got up early and embarked on an adventure- garage sales! Just as I suspected, the history and whole aura of this town was a fantastic stage to find treasures of all sorts. I am the proud owner of an antique sewing table....not the Singer table....this one has cute little drawers from top to bottom and a drop leaf extension on the side! I was told the history of the little table and I hope to live up to the expectations it may have on me :)
I also got some sweet milk glass a set of shutters and an old wooden folding chair. There were too many to conquer in one morning but I am keeping my eyes peeled for the future! It was glorious weather for it this weekend.

07 September 2011

It that time of the year! It may not last long but each day that I can get of fall weather I try and savor as much as possible! Sweaters, jeans, boots and hot apple cider!
I have taught myself to knit and picked up crochet again. I am planning to have plenty to keep myself busy this winter.
I am so excited for our trip coming up next month! We are going to Maine to visit some friends and spend a weekend away. I hear that October is the time to see beautiful fall colors and I am prepared with my camera to take some great pictures!
I keep saying this but I am reviving Paisley Barn...there have been some new developments in my life and I have decided that this is what I love and I have to bite the bullet and get it off and going. I have my etsy shop and a few prospects as far as retail shops. The major roadblock I am coming across is the SPACE! This little "house on wheels" just doesn't have the space for a crafter. Wish me luck and I will keep you updated on the progress. First goal: have some items available for sale by the end of the month!
